Attorney requests media be excluded from teen's hearing

Fay, 17, charged with delinquency in connection to 2 deaths

OTTAWA, Ohio -- A Putnam County judge has scheduled a hearing on Thursday to consider a request to exclude the media from reporting on the juvenile court hearing of Aaron Michael Fay.

William Kluge, the court-appointed attorney for the 17-year-old Fay youth, has asked Judge Michael Borer to prohibit media coverage of the teenager's adult certification hearing on July 2 in juvenile court. A hearing on that request is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Thursday.

Michael Fay, 17 , is accused of killing brothers Blaine Romes, 14, and Blake Romes, 17, in a trailer on North Perry Street, where he lived with his mother, the victims, and their mother. The Fay youth faces two counts of delinquency in connection with aggravated murder for the deaths.

If probable cause is established at the juvenile hearing, state law mandates that a 16 or 17-year-old be certified to an adult court if he is charged with murder or aggravated murder.
