Adam Tunison of LaSalle, Mich., has been sentenced to eight years in prison for the Christmas Day crash on I-75 that killed Juan Garcia, Jr., of Toledo.

For driving drunk early Christmas morning and killing a young man on his way home from midnight Mass, a LaSalle, Mich. man was sentenced today to the maximum sentence of eight years in prison.

Lucas County Common Pleas Judge Frederick McDonald also suspended the driver’s license of Adam Tunison for life.

Tunison, 42, pleaded no contest earlier this month to aggravated vehicular homicide for causing the death of Juan Garcia, Jr., 26, of Toledo.

Prosecutors said Tunsion consumed at least eight mixed drinks and nine shots of liquor between 10:10 p.m. on Dec. 24 and 1:18 a.m. on Dec. 25 at Chuck’s on Monroe, 4477 Monroe St. He then got behind the wheel and drove the wrong way on I-75, striking Mr. Garcia’s car head-on.
