Toledoan admits arson, gets 7 years

A Toledo man who set fire to his grandmother’s West Toledo house was sentenced Thursday to seven years in prison.

Kevin Lammie, 21, who had lived in the home at 2802 Isha Laye Way, pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated arson before Lucas County Common Pleas Judge Dean Mandros, who then imposed the sentence and told Lammie he must report his addresses to an arson-offender registry for life, as required by a new state law.

Two days after arguing about money, Lammie broke into the grandmother’s home March 13, poured gasoline around the house, and ignited several pieces of furniture. She was not home.

Judge Mandros also ordered that the five years of community control to which Lammie was sentenced in an unrelated attempted-burglary case be served after his prison sentence.
