A Toledo man who sped through an intersection, striking and killing a motorist turning in front of him, pleaded no contest today to aggravated vehicular homicide.

Donald McMullin, 36, of 1250 Nebraska Ave., is to be sentenced Sept. 23 by Lucas County Common Pleas Judge Ruth Ann Franks, who accepted his plea and found him guilty.

McMullin was southbound on the Anthony Wayne Trail Feb. 13 when he drove through the intersection of City Park Avenue at a speed estimated between 64 mph and 66 mph. His vehicle struck the northbound car of Aaron Davis, 18, of Toledo who was attempting to turn left onto City Park.

Mr. Davis died from his injuries two days later at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center.

As part of a plea agreement, McMullin is to be placed on community control and ordered to pay restitution of $18,280 to Mr. Davis’s estate. Judge Franks told him he also faces a mandatory driver’s license suspension that could range from three years to life.
