A Los Angeles man is to be sentenced Sept. 4 for shooting a bouncer at a downtown nightclub.

Gregory Burgess, 23, entered an Alford plea Wednesday to a charge of felonious assault with a firearm specification in Lucas County Common Pleas Court. In an Alford plea, a defendant does not admit to committing a crime, but acknowledges evidence is sufficient for a conviction.

Judge Gary Cook found him guilty in the June 9 shooting of Miguel Garcia, 22, outside Club Ellyzees, 319 N. Superior St.
