Ex-clerk in Lucas County Sheriff's office pleads guilty to theft in office

A former clerk for the civil division of the Lucas County Sheriff’s Office pleaded guilty to theft in office today for stealing more than $17,000 while she was employed with the county.

Tina Tardich, 50, of Swanton faces up to three years in prison when she is sentenced Sept. 24 by Lucas County Common Pleas Judge Myron Duhart.

Tardich, who worked for the sheriff’s office from 1997 until her resignation Aug. 1, 2011, was indicted in April for grand theft and theft in office stemming from checks she wrote to her ex-husband and another family member from an account for unclaimed funds between October, 2010, and February, 2011.
