Defendant denies role
in fatal head-on crash

A Toledo man accused of crashing head-on into a motorcyclist and killing him denied having any role in the crash during arraignment Monday in Toledo Municipal Court.

David Robinson, 39, of 1846 Palmwood Ave. is charged with failure to stop after an accident; drug abuse, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Judge Michelle Wagner ordered Robinson's bond set at $100,000 and urged him to obtain an attorney.

“You're facing very serious charges,” the judge told Robinson, who said repeatedly he did not “have anything to do with any accident.”

“I was just released from Stryker that day,” Robinson said in his own defense.

Police allege that Robinson went left of center on Douglas Road and collided head-on with a motorcycle driven by Jason Alexander, 32, of Toledo, on Wednesday night.

Mr. Alexander was pronounced dead at the scene.

The motorist fled on foot, police said. Robinson was arrested about a mile away near the Miracle Mile Shopping Center.

Robinson remained in the Lucas County jail Monday night. He is to appear in court again today after obtaining an attorney.
