Baby Elaina's mother not allowed to attend funeral

Lucas County Common Pleas Judge Gary Cook today ruled that Angela Steinfurth may not get out of jail to attend her daughter’s funeral.

The mother of Baby Elaina -- the East Toledo toddler who went missing June 2 -- Ms. Steinfurth, 25, of 329 Valleywood Dr., had filed a motion earlier today seeking a furlough from the Lucas County jail to attend the child’s funeral service on Saturday.

The motion included a letter from Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, where the service is to be held, that said the funeral home would be able to “accommodate private time for Elaina’s mother.”

Ms. Steinfurth was charged with obstructing official buisness for allegedly lying to police about her child's disappearance. She is being held on $100,000 bond.

The remains of the little girl were discovered by Toledo police Sept. 5 in a detached garage on the property where she was last seen.
