A Toledo man has been charged with felonious assault after authorities said he slugged and stomped another inmate at the Lucas County jail.

A $200,000 bond for Archie Fobbs, 24, of 30 W. Weber St. was set Wednesday in Toledo Municipal Court. He is charged with striking Austin Johnson, 21, of Maumee with a closed fist to the face Saturday. Mr. Johnson fell to the ground unconscious, hitting his head on a concrete floor. Fobbs stomped him in the face and head until another inmate intervened, court records state.

Mr. Johnson was taken to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center and suffered a fractured skull. He remained in the hospital Wednesday, according to Sheriff John Tharp.

Fobbs’ next court appearance related to the charge is next Wednesday.
