Man, 23, pleads guilty to counterfeiting
11/1/2013A Toledo man pleaded guilty in federal court Thursday to manufacturing some $10,000 in counterfeit money.
Lakeith J. Meyers, 23, of 890 Prouty Ave. entered guilty pleas to one count each of manufacturing counterfeit currency and uttering counterfeit currency. He is to be sentenced Feb. 27 in U.S. District Court by Judge Jack Zouhary.
Federal prosecutors said Meyers admitted making the counterfeit bills at his home, using a printer and scanner. He then spent or sold the phony money.
The U.S. Secret Service and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms searched his home July 18 and seized desktop and laptop computers, a scanner and printer, a box of Southworth paper, and 15 counterfeit $20 bills, among other items.
