CUSTAR, Ohio —Bond was set at $1 million today for a Custar man charged with attempted murder in a shooting Wednesday outside his home, the Wood County Sheriff's Office said.

During his arraignment in Bowling Green Municipal Court, Thomas Boyer, 53, of 22743 Defiance Pike, was ordered held in lieu of the bond at the Wood County jail pending a preliminary hearing Monday. He is accused of shooting William Morris, 42, of Rutland, Ohio, in the back with a shotgun.

Mr. Morris remained in serious condition at the University of Toledo Medical Center, formerly Medical College of Ohio Hospital, a hospital spokesman said.

The incident remains under investigation.

Custar is about 25 miles southwest of Toledo.
