BOWLING GREEN – A Bowling Green man who admitted to causing the injuries that led to his infant son’s death was sentenced today to 14 years in prison.

Brian Steinmiller, 32, had pleaded guilty in Wood County Common Pleas Court Sept. 18 to involuntary manslaughter and two counts of endangering children in connection with the May 5, 2012 death of 3-month-old Carter Steinmiller.

Judge Robert Pollex rejected the 10-year sentenced recommended as part of a plea agreement with the prosecutor’s office. The judge said the abuse inflicted on the baby was "atrocious."

The baby’s mother, Rebecca Steinmiller, 26, pleaded guilty last month to endangering children for failing to report the abuse or get medical attention for her son. She faces up to three years in prison when she is sentenced Jan. 28 by Judge Pollex.
