A Toledo man who “aided and abetted two armed robberies” was sentenced Tuesday to four and a half years in prison.

David Smith, 22, of 1040 Oakdale Ave., pleaded guilty Sept. 10 to two counts of robbery stemming from a June 26 holdup of Dollar General, 5860 Lewis Ave., and a June 28 robbery at the Six Pack Bar and Grill, 3223 W. Sylvania Ave. Lucas County Common Pleas Judge Frederick McDonald said Smith supplied the gun to co-defendant Anthony Martin for the first robbery and drove the getaway car in the second.

Also Tuesday, Judge McDonald sentenced co-defendant Russell Kiker to three years of community control and ordered him to avoid alcohol and non-prescription drugs. Kiker, 21, of Temperance pleaded no contest Aug. 20 to obstructing official business for kicking money taken from the bar under the car seat.

Martin, 20, of 247 Mayberry St. is to be sentenced Jan. 9 for two counts of robbery with gun specifications.
