Former foster mom found guilty of lesser charge in abuse of adopted daughter

A former Toledo foster parent charged with abusing her adopted daughter was found guilty today of a misdemeanor charge in Lucas County Common Pleas Court.

LeeAnne Henry, 60, of 3001 Brock Dr., entered an Alford plea to failure to provide for a functionally impaired person, a second-degree misdemeanor. She faces up to 90 days in jail and a $750 fine when she is sentenced Feb. 25 by Judge Myron Duhart.

In an Alford plea, a defendant does not admit to committing a crime, but acknowledges evidence is sufficient for a conviction and that it could result in a more severe sentence. The court treats it as a guilty plea.

Prosecutors said that at the time of sentencing, they would ask the court to dismiss two felony counts of endangering children against Mrs. Henry and one count of endangering children against her husband, Christopher Henry, 61.

The couple had been scheduled to go to trial today.
