Toledo man sentenced to 10 years for rape

A Toledo man who raped a 7-year-old girl was sentenced Tuesday to 10 years in prison.

Lucas County Common Pleas Judge Ruth Ann Franks also classified Joseph Jordan as a sex offender who must register his address with the county sheriff every 90 days for the rest of his life. Two additional counts of rape and one additional count of gross sexual imposition were dismissed at the prosecutor’s request.

Jordan, 22, of 5624 Darlene Dr. entered an Alford plea Jan. 13 to rape and gross sexual imposition for the incidents, which occurred between Aug. 30, 2012 and May 6, 2013. In an Alford plea, a defendant does not admit to committing a crime, but acknowledges evidence is sufficient for a conviction that could result in a more severe sentence.
