Man guilty of stabbing friend in neck near bar

A Toledo man charged with stabbing his friend in the neck was found guilty of felonious assault Tuesday following a two-day jury trial in Lucas County Common Pleas Court.

Antonio Roundtree, 35, of 333 Sheldon St. is to be sentenced Wednesday by Judge Linda Jennings. Roundtree was convicted of stabbing Ruben Rodriguez, 27, in a confrontation outside a bar Dec. 15, 2012.

The men had been friends and business partners, Mr. Rodriguez told the jury, but their relationship had deteriorated.

Roundtree, who took the witness stand Tuesday afternoon, said Mr. Rodriguez followed him outside the bar and brandished a knife, prompting him to pull out his own knife in self-defense.
