Two Oregon men accused of beating a 70-year-old Toledoan with a pool cue were arraigned Wednesday.

Mario Torres, 51, of 2702 Mechanic St., and John Pina, 48, of 5028 Prestler Rd., are charged in Toledo Municipal Court with one count each of felonious assault. Each was ordered to remain in the Lucas County jail in lieu of $75,000 bond. Mr. Pina posted the bond Wednesday and was released. Mr. Torres remained in the jail late Wednesday.

Police said Alexander Ochoa, Jr., was playing pool at a bar at 457 Oak St. in East Toledo, just before 1 a.m. Friday with two men when the trio started to argue.

One of the men yelled, “Get him,” and the other used a pool cue to hit Mr. Ochoa on the head several times, police said.
