Mista pleads not guilty in Fremont bar shootings

FREMONT — A man who allegedly shot and killed three men at a Fremont bar was arraigned Thursday in Sandusky County Common Pleas Court.

Igmidio Mista, 33, pleaded not guilty to three counts of murder and one count each of attempted murder, felonious assault, and possessing a firearm in a liquor-permit premises. Five of the counts include specifications that a gun was used.

Judge Barbara Ansted ordered Mr. Mista held in the county jail in lieu of $5 million. A pretrial hearing was scheduled for April 21.

Toledo attorney David Klucas was appointed to represent Mr. Mista who is a Philippine national living in Fremont.

If convicted of all charges, he faces up to 75 years in prison.

The shooting occurred in the early morning hours of March 9 at Last Call Bar on West State Street, police said.

Killed in the shooting were 26-year-old Elmore police Officer Jose Andy Chavez, 28-year-old bartender Ramiro Sanchez, and a 25-year-old customer, Daniel Ramirez. A fourth man shot at the bar, 25-year-old Ramiro Arreola, was injured.
