A Toledo man accused of stabbing his mother to death withdrew his insanity plea Thursday after two forensic psychologists found him competent to stand trial.

Anthony Bertolina, 34, of 3158 Winston Blvd. is scheduled to go to trial April 7 in Lucas County Common Pleas Court on aggravated murder and murder charges stemming from the Dec. 9 death of his mother, Mary Bertolina, 56, inside the home they shared.

His attorney, Gretchen DeBacker, told the court she was withdrawing Mr. Bertolina’s previous plea of not guilty by reason of insanity. The reports were sealed by Judge Ruth Ann Franks.
