Bowsher-Scott game brawl leads to prison


One of five men charged with a gang-related fight at a high school basketball game was sentenced Thursday to four years in prison.

Anquette Carter McCoy, 20, of 2926 Higgins St. pleaded guilty March 17 in Lucas County Common Pleas Court to participating in a criminal gang and misdemeanor riot for the Dec. 20 fight that stopped the Bowsher-Scott game for about 10 minutes. Judge Dean Mandros ordered the time be served consecutive to a 6½-year sentence McCoy recently received from Judge Ruth Ann Franks for escape and burglary.

Co-defendant Andre Wright, Jr., 21, of 1762 Macomber St. is to be sentenced Monday after he pleaded guilty to misdemeanor riot and assault on a peace officer. Lewis Reynolds, 20, of 540 E. Oakland St. pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct and was placed on probation for a year, while cases are pending against two others.
