A couple who police said befriended a 90-year-old South Toledo woman, then stole thousands of dollars from her, were indicted Thursday by a Lucas County grand jury.

Shawn Goodluck, 29, and Jamie Goodluck, 35, of 1311 Colburn St. were charged with theft from an elderly person and burglary.

Investigator Robert Baumgartner of the senior protection unit of the Lucas County Proseuctor’s Office said the couple allegedly convinced the woman they’d won the lottery but had to pay the taxes so they could share it with her. She withdrew money from her savings and cashed in certificates of deposit several times between May, 2013, and March 26, he said.

The indictment charges the theft was between $37,500 and $150,000. They also are accused of entering her home March 18 and taking cash from her.
