A Start High student charged with taking a gun to the school was indicted Thursday by a Lucas County grand jury.

Willie Carter III, 18, of 1928 Brame Pl., was indicted for having a weapon while under disability, carrying a concealed weapon, illegal possession of a deadly weapon in a school-safety zone, and trafficking in marijuana.

Carter was arrested April 28 in Start’s cafeteria by a Toledo Public Schools officer acting on a tip. Police said they found a 45-caliber handgun and seven bags of marijuana in Carter’s possession. The school was locked down for nearly three hours.
