A Toledo man was indicted Thursday for murder and felonious assault in the April 13 strangulation of a Toledo woman.

Denzil Wells II, 40, of 1411 Brooke Park Dr., is charged in the death of Nicole Sours, 37, at Wells’ apartment.

He reportedly told police he picked up Ms. Sours about 3 a.m. at the Pour House, a bar on Bennett Road in West Toledo where she worked. He said they went to his apartment, went to bed, and when he awoke about noon he found her purple and cold to the touch.

Wells, who called 911, was arrested May 14 after an autopsy determined that Ms. Sours had been strangled and her death ruled a homicide.

Lucas County Common Pleas Court records show Wells was convicted in 2005 and 2007 for felony domestic violence, and in 2010 for felonious assault.
