A Toledo man admitted today in court to killing his mother last December inside the home they shared in south Toledo.

Anthony Bertolina, 34, pleaded guilty in Lucas County Common Pleas Court to aggravated murder in the fatal stabbing of Mary Bertolina.

Ms. Bertolina, a longtime Blade employee, was found in a bedroom of her home on Winston Boulevard. She had been stabbed in the neck and chest.

Bertolina told Judge Ruth Ann Franks he attacked and killed his mother with a knife on Dec. 8. He was arrested the following day when police went to the residence to check on her safety.

The plea agreement calls for Bertolina to receive a sentence of life in prison with the possibility of parole after 30 years. Judge Franks scheduled sentencing for June 9.
