BOWLING GREEN — A Toledo man who attempted to escape from the Wood County jail through the roof was sentenced earlier this month to two years in prison.

Xzavier Matthews, 22, of 711 Pearl St. was ordered on May 7 by Wood County Common Pleas Judge Robert Pollex to serve the two-year sentence consecutive with his current 11-year sentence for breaking into a Northwood home in 2011, starting a fire inside, and threatening one of its residents with a gun.

In Lucas County, Matthews is to be sentenced May 28 on charges stemming from a 2011 home invasion in East Toledo.
