Toledo teen gets 12 years for deadly home invasion

An 18-year-old Holland man was sentenced today to 12 years in prison for his role in a deadly home invasion at a West Toledo apartment.

Levi Jackson, 18, of 352 Oak View Ct., pleaded guilty May 16 to aggravated robbery and felonious assault in the April 29, 2013 shooting death of Nathanial Phillips, 20, of Toledo and the wounding of Michael Kohlhofer, 20, of Holland.

As part of a plea agreement, Lucas County Common Pleas Judge Gene Zmuda dismissed charges of murder, aggravated burglary, and a second count of felonious assault against Jackson.

Jackson, who was 17 at the time, along with co-defendant Antonio Taylor, Jr., 20, of 9641 Oak Shadow Ct., Holland, went to an apartment on Twin Oaks Drive where Cody Ramsey, 17, of Holland, told them they would find occupants with drugs and money. In the course of the robbery, two of the occupants were shot.

Young Ramsey was found delinquent in Lucas County Juvenile Court last year of complicity to robbery and complicity to aggravated robbery and ordered to spend at least two years in an Ohio Department of Youth Services facility.

Taylor, who admitted he shot the two victims during the botched robbery, pleaded guilty in August to murder, aggravated burglary, and felonious assault, each with firearms specifications. He is to be sentenced June 11 by Judge Zmuda.
