ADRIAN — Authorities are searching for a handcuffed, unarmed inmate who escaped Monday from a Lenawee County Courthouse.

Scott Henning, 27, of Swanton escaped about 10:15 a.m. when a holding cell door lock malfunctioned, city officials said. He fled westbound from the court and was last seen near Miles Drive.

The inmate is described by authorities as white, 5 feet, 11 inches tall, 180 pounds, with light brown hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a light blue shirt and gray pants.

Officials from the Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office‍ said Mr. Henning had been sentenced to spend 93 days in the Lenawee County jail for violation of probation on a reckless driving charge. He was put into the holding cell awaiting transportation to the jail when the cell door did not lock. He walked out a back door.
