Local man admits robbing bank in March

A Toledo man admitted in court Thursday that he robbed a Charter One Bank branch this year.

Ryan Shumaker, 24, of 905 S. Byrne Rd. pleaded guilty in Lucas County Common Pleas Court to robbery for the March 29 holdup. He told Judge Ruth Ann Franks he went to the bank at Detroit and Glendale avenues and gave a teller a note demanding money. He fled with about $2,500, he said.

Michael Loisel, an assistant county prosecutor, said as part of a plea agreement, prosecutors will recommend a sentence of not more than six years in prison. Judge Franks told Shumaker he could face up to eight years when sentenced July 8.
