A Toledo man accused of shooting a man who was holding his 1-year-old daughter has been arraigned in Toledo Municipal Court.

Devonn Palmer, 24, of 3333 Elm St., is charged with one count of aggravated robbery. He was ordered Tuesday to remain in the Lucas County jail in lieu of $100,000 bond.

Police allege that Palmer shot Steven Abernathy, 34, on June 21 outside Mr. Abernathy’s home in the 300 block of East Manhattan Blvd.

Mr. Abernathy, his girlfriend, and their 1-year-old daughter arrived at their home just after midnight. Mr. Abernathy took the toddler from the truck and was approached by a man with a gun who said, “Give it up,” according to court records.

Mr. Abernathy backed into the road and was shot once in a leg. As he was shot, Mr. Abernathy dropped the girl.

She was not seriously injured, authorities said.
