Mother of 4 disputes child endangerment charge

A Toledo mother pleaded not guilty on Monday in Toledo Municipal Court after she was arrested for allegedly locking four children inside a car while she grocery shopped.

Latasha Flowers, 35, of 833 Page St. is charged with one count of child endangering. She was ordered to be released from the Lucas County jail on her own recognizance.

According to court records, Ms. Flowers left her four children inside her vehicle for about 20 minutes while she shopped inside the Miracle Mile Kroger, 4925 Jackman Rd., on Friday afternoon. Police noted that the temperature at the time was 81 degrees.

The incident was not reported to Lucas County Children Services, agency spokesman Julie Malkin said.
