    An East Toledo man remained in the Lucas County jail after a court appearance Friday on a charge of bludgeoning a man whose body has not been found.

    Robert Strauss, 36, of 2140 Consaul St., who is charged with murder, was arraigned in Toledo Municipal Court. His bond was set at $1 million. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Monday.

    Police allege Mr. Strauss and his wife, Desirae Strauss, 36, killed Brian Martin, 52, of Ypsilanti, Mich., on June 22 inside the couple’s residence. The pair were arrested July 8 in Anderson, Ind. Desirae Strauss was arraigned July 21 and was being held on a $1 million bond.

    Police said forensic evidence implicated the couple. Mr. Martin’s body has not been found, but police believe it is in a barn or shed structure.
