Suspect in arson ruled competent to stand trial

TIFFIN — A Fostoria woman charged with setting a house fire that killed two people and injured another was found competent to stand trial Tuesday in Seneca County Common Pleas Court.

Judge Michael Kelbley set an Oct. 14 trial date for Shey Weiker, 31, who is charged with aggravated arson, aggravated murder, murder, and attempted murder stemming from a May 26 fire at a Poplar Street home that killed Danny Marker, Jr., 48, and Tara Vance, 44, and injured Dana Weatherall, 49.

In addition to Ms. Weiker, Charles Schaeffer, 44, and Timothy Hall, 20, both of Fostoria, also are charged in connection with the fatal blaze. Mr. Schaeffer was indicted on complicity charges, while Mr. Hall was indicted for tampering with evidence and obstructing justice.
