Lucas County Commissioners plan to review a proposal today to repair and renovate the dome at the Lucas County Courthouse.

Commissioners are expected to award a contract to Duket Architects of Toledo and Michigan-based Quinn Evans Architects for up to $70,000 for professional services on the project.

Laura Lloyd-Jenkins, county administrator, said the project was planned to be done in 2017 as part of the capital improvements budget. She said leaks from rain and snow have caused significant damage and deterioration in the dome and the commissioners decided to advance the project to this year's list of brick-and-mortar projects.

Construction work to repair and refurbish the dome is expected to cost about $795,000.

Ms. Lloyd-Jenkins said the project is scheduled to be advertised for bids in late April or May and a contract awarded in June. The work is expected to be completed in November.
