Alan K. Laney, 47, of Montpelier was indicted by a Williams County grand jury on two counts of felonious assault and nine counts of endangering children for abuse that allegedly occurred over a two-day period in June. He is being held at the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio.

The victim's mother, Alisha M. Underwood, 25, of Hicksville was indicted on three counts of endangering children —  two of which are felonies and one that is a misdemeanor — for allegedly failing to protect her daughter from harm.

Montpelier police investigated the case, which is being prosecuted by Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine's Crimes Against Children Initiative.
