A Toledo man who broke into a home and then shot the resident when he arrived home was sentenced Tuesday to 3½ years in prison.

Markus Robinson, 26, of the 200 block of Dexter Street entered an Alford plea — not admitting guilt — April 10 and was found guilty of burglary and a firearm specification by Lucas County Common Pleas Judge James Bates. The judge gave Robinson credit for the nearly three years he has been in custody — either in jail or the Northwest Ohio Psychiatric Hospital — since his arrest.

Prosecutors said Dashine Jackson, 37, returned to his East Park Street home March 22, 2015, and found Robinson inside. When he confronted him, Robinson shot him in the shoulder.
