Teen robber avoids prison

A senior at Sylvania Virtual Academy who was convicted of robbery for his role in a home invasion was ordered Monday to spend four months in the Lucas County Work Release program followed by 90 days on electronic monitoring.

Lucas County Common Pleas Judge Gene Zmuda placed Noah Cox, 18, of the 2300 block of St. James Wood Boulevard on community control for five years, ordered him to complete 100 hours of community service, and pay $410 in restitution.

Cox pleaded guilty April 9 to robbery for a Dec. 15 incident in which he and two others went to a Jamieson Drive apartment, and Cox took marijuana while the other two assaulted the occupant, Daniel Mexico.
