Perrysburg man accused of taping men at downtown locker room

A former HCR ManorCare employee is accused of recording men as they undressed in a company locker room, according to affidavits filed in Toledo Municipal Court.

Chad R. Plummer, 45, is charged with eight counts of voyeurism, a second-degree misdemeanor. 

Mr. Plummer’s attorney, Jerry Purcel, confirmed his client had been employed with the company but had been laid off.

Mr. Plummer, of Perrysburg, is accused of recording at least eight men, ranging in age from 30 to 65, in December at HCR ManorCare’s downtown headquarters. The company is the nation’s second-largest operator of elder-care facilities.

The recordings allegedly occurred in a locker room, Mr. Purcel said. 

While women are typically private about such exposure, Mr. Purcel said he believes most men “wouldn’t care less,” as they typically walk around a locker room with little to no clothing on. 

When asked if Mr. Purcel thought the victims cared about being recorded, he said, “I don’t think most people would give a damn. I think most men wouldn’t.”

A complaint against Mr. Plummer was filed on Feb. 7, and he turned himself into authorities on Thursday, according to court records. 

He was booked in the Lucas County jail. 

Mr. Plummer appeared in Toledo Municipal Court before Judge Nicole Khoury and he pleaded not guilty. 

Bond was set at $2,500, with 10 percent allowed. Bond was later posted. Mr. Plummer was ordered to have no contact with the victims.
