  • A Toledo woman charged with setting fire to a garage then bribing the victim entered an Alford plea — not admitting guilt — to arson and was found guilty Thursday.

Mayshyia A. Davis, 31, of the 2000 block of Walnut Street faces up to 18 months in prison when she is sentenced Aug. 28 by Lucas County Common Pleas Judge Stacy Cook. As part of a plea agreement, a charge of bribery is to be dismissed.

Brian Boos, an assistant county prosecutor, said Davis set fire to a garage in the 2900 block of Elm Street on April 22, damaging both the structure and a car parked inside. Mr. Boos said Davis later paid $500 to the victim, with whom she had a prior relationship, with the agreement the victim would “ask the court not to give jail time.”
