Jermaine Jones, one of the final 12 American Idol contestants who was dubbed "The Gentle Giant" for his vast height and soulful singing, tweeted on Tuesday that he would no longer be on the show.

The tweet quickly disappeared from his official Idol Twitter account, but reports from TMZ, the Hollywood Reporter, and elsewhere said that Jones was being disqualified for concealing a sometimes-violent criminal past from producers. The reports did not specify what crimes Jones had been accused of.

A Fox spokesman said the network would have no comment.

Investigation

A horse was injured and euthanized Tuesday during production of the racetrack drama Luck, the third death in connection with the series, and HBO agreed to suspend filming with horses while the accident is investigated.

The animal was being led to a Santa Anita Park racetrack stable by a groom when it reared and fell back Tuesday morning, suffering a head injury, according to HBO. The horse was euthanized at the track in suburban Arcadia, where Luck is filming its second season.

In the series, which was created by David Milch (Deadwood, NYPD Blue) and looks at racing's seedier side, Dustin Hoffman plays a crime kingpin who's scheming to gain control of a racetrack and introduce casino gambling.

'Mrs. Eastwood'

The E! network said Tuesday that Mrs. Eastwood & Company will premiere May 20 as a 10-episode series.

The show spotlights Dina Eastwood, who has been married to the Oscar-winning actor-director since 1996. Also on hand are the Eastwoods' 15-year-old daughter, Morgan, as well as 18-year-old Francesca, Clint Eastwood's daughter with actress Frances Fisher.

Rounding out the cast is the all-male, six-member vocal group Overtone, managed by Dina Eastwood.

Mrs. Eastwood & Company is being filmed in the family's hometown of Carmel, Calif., as well as in Los Angeles. Clint Eastwood is expected to make guest appearances.

Theron adopts boy

Actress Charlize Theron has adopted a child.

In a statement Wednesday, Theron's publicist said the actress is a "proud mom of a healthy baby boy named Jackson." No more details were provided.

Theron is from South Africa. This is the actress' first child.

Accident

Lindsay Lohan's black Porsche was surrounded by paparazzi when her sports car grazed the knee of a man outside a Hollywood club early Wednesday, police said.

Lohan drove off and a police report wasn't taken because the Hookah Lounge employee wasn't hurt, Los Angeles police Sgt. Mark Ro said.

The 25-year-old Mean Girls star was trying to make a U-turn outside the Wilcox Avenue club at about 12:30 a.m.

"Space was tight," the sergeant said, adding that Lohan may have nudged the lounge employee's parked car, believed to be a Corvette.
