The Biggest Week in American Birding has caught the eye of CBS News Sunday Morning.
The news program is shooting Sunday and Monday at the 10-day Toledo-area event as part of an upcoming feature on the wide popularity of birding.
“It’s a general story about birding in America,” said Doug Smith, a CBS News Sunday Morning producer.
“We’re looking at the phenomenon and its appeal to people of all ages, and just trying to understand its appeal. We’re shooting in Indiana and coming to Ohio. ”
The segment, with correspondent Serena Altschul, is tentatively scheduled to air May 26 or in mid-June. Last summer, the Toledo Museum of Art and the City of Toledo were featured in a CBS News Sunday Morning segment on the 50th anniversary of the studio glass movement.
The 90-minute program airs locally beginning at 9 a.m. Sundays on WTOL-TV, Channel 11.
