Humane Society celebrating 130 years with special rates

The Toledo Area Humane Society is celebrating its 130th anniversary with special adoption rates and prizes.

Through Feb. 8, the organization is offering a 25 percent discount on the adoption fees for dogs six months of age and older. Kittens will be $40 each, while adult cats will be $20 each. Long-stay cats will be only $10 each.

Adopters will be entered into a daily drawing for prizes like gift certificates to the organization's thrift store, the ReTail Shop at 2036 S. Byrne Road in Toledo. Tickets to the organization's annual formal fund-raising gala, the Fur Ball set for Feb. 8, will also be one of the prizes.

The organization, at 1920 Indian Wood Circle in Maumee, has set a goal to adopt out 130 animals before the Fur Ball. Reservations for the gala are $130 per person or $1,000 for a table of 10.
