Lucas County Dogs for Adoption: 5-1

Dogs remain available at the Lucas County Canine Care & Control office, 410 South Erie St., Toledo. For information, call 419-213-2800.

For a complete list of available dogs, go to lucascountydogs.petfinder.com. A $100 adoption fee includes spay-neuter, a heartworm check, microchip ID, vaccinations, and a behavioral evaluation.

 

Dogs killed

Dogs killed April 27-29 under the direction of Lucas County Canine Care & Control Director Julie Lyle:

Breed and description; location seized; charge (if applicable). Dogs killed for poor behavior are scored on a scale up to 5, with higher scores being more aggressive:

American bulldog/“pit bull” mix, white and brown male, unlicensed, bite history, surrendered by Barbara Cline-Kowalski, Heatherdowns Boulevard, Toledo.

“Pit bull,” tan and white female, unlicensed, failed behavior evaluation/​body handling (scored 3 out of 5 on April 27), Booth Avenue, Toledo, stray picked up by a control officer.

Scottish terrier, black female, unlicensed, owner requested euthanasia (age-related illness), surrendered by William Klier, Wright Avenue, Toledo.

“Pit bull” mix, orange and white male, unlicensed, fearful/​unsafe, East Hudson Street, Toledo, stray picked up by a control officer.

“Pit bull,” white and black male, unlicensed, failed behavior evaluation/​dog aggression (scored 4/​4 on April 28), Walker Avenue, Toledo, stray picked up by a control officer.

“Pit bull” mix, brindle and white male, unlicensed, aggressive/​unsafe, Lewis Avenue, Toledo, stray picked up by a control officer.

Shih Tzu, white female, unlicensed, veterinarian recommended euthanasia/​quality of life (dog had mammary masses, severe dental disease with few teeth remaining, unable to walk, shakes while standing, unable to see, heart murmur, grim prognosis), Navarre Avenue, Toledo, stray brought to the shelter.

Great Dane/​Labrador retriever mix, black and white male, unlicensed, owner requested euthanasia (age-related illness), surrendered by Kenneth Bushroe, Cincinnati Street, Toledo.

Dogs transferred April 28-29 to Planned Pethood and the Toledo Area Humane Society under the direction of Lucas County Canine Care & Control Director Julie Lyle:

Boston terrier, black and white female, Berdan Avenue, Toledo, stray brought to the shelter.

Parson Russell terrier mix, white and orange male, surrendered by Theresa Ceniceros, Caledonia Street, Toledo.

Newfoundland mix, black male, East Manhattan Boulevard, Toledo, stray picked up by a control officer.

“Pit bull” mix, white and tan male, Gracewood Avenue, Toledo, stray picked up by a control officer.

Cane corso, brindle male, Elm Street, Toledo, stray brought to the shelter.
