Lucas County Dogs for Adoption: 5-16

Dogs remain available at the Lucas County Canine Care & Control office, 410 South Erie St., Toledo. For information, call 419-213-2800.

For a complete list of available dogs, go to lucascountydogs.petfinder.com. A $100 adoption fee includes spay-neuter, a heartworm check, microchip ID, vaccinations, and a behavioral evaluation.

 

Dogs killed

Dogs killed May 14 under the direction of Lucas County Canine Care & Control Director Julie Lyle:

Breed and description; location seized; charge (if applicable). Dogs killed for poor behavior are scored on a scale up to 5, with higher scores being more aggressive:

“Pit bull” mix, brindle and white female, unlicensed, failed behavior evaluation/​dog aggression (scored 4 out of 4 on May 13), North Holland Sylvania Road, Toledo, stray picked up by a control officer.

German shepherd, orange and tan female, unlicensed, veterinarian recommended euthanasia/​quality of life (bleeding heavily from genitals, belly hugely distended with blood, rapid heart rate, grim prognosis), Suder Avenue, Toledo, stray picked up by a control officer.

Dogs transferred

Dogs transferred May 13 to the Toledo Area Humane Society under the direction of Lucas County Canine Care & Control Director Julie Lyle:

Cane corso mix, black male, Oak Street, Toledo, stray brought to the shelter.

Australian shepherd mix, red and white female, Belmar Avenue, Toledo, stray brought to the shelter.

American bulldog, white and black male, Lawrence Avenue, Toledo, stray picked up by a control officer.

Cane corso, brindle female, surrendered by Kathryn Spencer, Loch Haven Boulevard, Maumee.

Border terrier mix, tan and white female, surrendered by Raeshon Silver, Byrneport Drive, Toledo.

“Pit bull,” orange and white male, South Erie Street, Toledo, stray picked up by a control officer.
