St. Stephen Parish is hosting the 36th Annual Birmingham Festival from noon-9 p.m. Aug. 15 at Consaul and Genesee streets. Chicken paprikas and stuffed cabbage dinners, along with homemade Hungarian pastries in the school hall from 1-3 p.m. Hungarian dancers in the parking lot, where Tru Brew will perform from 5-9 p.m. Games, rides, bingo, and raffles.

Toledo

Maumee Valley Heritage Corridor has scheduled narrated history and architectural tours aboard the Sandpiper boat on the Maumee River through September. The cruises travel upstream from downtown Toledo and visit such highlights as the SS Willis Boyer freighter, the grain elevators, the casino location, estate homes in Eagle Point Colony, and one of the nation's busiest railroad bridges. Historian Fred Folger will narrate the tours. Dates for the two-hour cruises are 7:30 p.m. Aug. 9; 1 p.m. Sept. 5, and 1 p.m. Sept. 19. The cost is $18 per person, or $15 for members of any historical organization in the Maumee Valley. For reservations, call 419-537-1212.
