The Genoa Alumni Band will perform during the homecoming football game against Lake High School on Friday.

Alumni should meet at 5:45 p.m. outside the band room and march with the high school band to Genoa Comet Stadium. Contact Briann Edwards, band director, at 419-855-7735.

The Ottawa, Sandusky, Seneca Joint Solid Waste Management District is holding a tire recycling collection for residents of those counties from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.

Car and small truck tires will be collected at the Ottawa County Fairgrounds, West State Rt. 163, near Oak Harbor. A maximum of 10 tires per household will be accepted. The cost is 50 cents per tire.

Racing tires also will be accepted for $2 per tire. Tractor tires will not be accepted.

The Salvation Army in Ottawa will run its "Coats for Families" program from Monday to Dec. 31.

New and gently used coats, which will be cleaned for free by Executive Cleaners, will be collected at the Salvation Army. Another collection site is Executive Cleaners, where everyone who donates a coat will get a 10 percent off coupon.

Rossford Village Exempted Schools is holding a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the district's all-weather track and varsity soccer field at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 21.

A picnic dinner will be served as part of the free event within the Glenwood Athletic Complex.

The Wood County Educational Service Center is holding five-week workshops throughout the county to help parents learn how to strengthen bonds with children and reduce the risk of their using drugs.

Each weekly workshop will be from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Eastwood Middle School, beginning Oct. 25, and at Rossford's Indian Hills Elementary School, beginning Jan. 13. Call 419-354-9010, ext. 228.
