Oregon landowner pulls request for rezoning

An Oregon property owner who sought a zoning change at 6338 Brown Rd. has withdrawn his request, and a public hearing on the matter scheduled for last week's council meeting was canceled.

Nabil Tawil wanted the designation of his 2.2 acres changed to A-1 agricultural from R-1 low-density residential. He keeps chickens on the property and wanted to add peacocks and miniature ponies.

Opponents of the change attended the meeting last week, with one complaining that a crowing rooster disturbed the neighborhood.

Mr. Tawil could not be reached for comment.
