ELMORE, Ohio -- Voters in the Woodmore Local Schools district will find a request on the November ballot to renew the district's permanent improvement levy.

The request is for 3 mills, 0.5 millsless than the current levy. The board reduced the amount to offset a 0.5-mill tax approved by voters in March.

That levy will pay for the upkeep of a new building planned in Woodville for kindergarten through the eighth grades.

The levy was required by the Ohio Schools Facilities Commission to qualify for state funding for the new building, according to district Treasurer Kevin Slates.

Officials hope to open the building for the 2015-16 school year.

The board also approved the sale of $15.7 million in construction bonds for the project.

In other business, the board approved hiring Kevin Ball as assistant elementary school principal and special education director. His salary is $70,000.
