DAYTON, Tenn. Workers at a La-Z-Boy Inc. manufacturing plant here abruptly canceled a union vote and withdrew their petition to organize.

The vote had been set for March 15 after negotiators with La-Z-Boy, of Monroe, Mich., and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 175 met Tuesday.

Carmella Cruse, a representative for the union local in Chattanooga, said the petition was withdrawn but declined to elaborate about the reason.
