Michigan’s jobless rate
rises slightly to 8.8%

LANSING — Michigan’s unemployment rate increased a tenth of a percentage point to 8.8 percent in July, the state announced Wednesday.

Michigan’s civilian labor force grew 9,400 to 4.728 million in July, and those working held steady at 4.31 million, the department said.

The seasonally adjusted jobless rate is down 0.5 percentage points from July, 2012.
