ACHIEVEMENTS

■ William J. Small has been elected to a two-year term as vice chairman of the board of directors of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Cincinnati. Mr. Small is chairman of First Federal Bank of the Midwest in Defiance as well as chairman of the holding company, First Defiance Financial Corp. The FHLBank is a $96 billion congressionally chartered wholesale regional bank providing financial services for residential housing and economic development to 732-member financial institutions located in Ohio, Kentucky, and Tennessee.

■ The Toledo-based Image Group won the bronze award in the 2014 Image Awards Competition sponsored by Promotional Products Association International. The award was for a self-promotion direct mail campaign.

■ Two companies with local operations have been named winners of NOVA award, handed out by First Solar Inc. for outstanding performance by suppliers. OMCO Solar was recognized for demonstrating considerable manufacturing flexibility that accommodated First Solar’s dynamic project schedules in North America. Airgas USA LLC was recognized for ensuring continued, uninterrupted supply of manufacturing materials to First Solar’s Perrysburg Township production facility, as well as personal protection equipment and safety equipment, while remaining open to creative approaches to managing inventory and reducing costs.

■ William G. Martin has been appointed to serve on the board of directors of Defiance-based SB Financial Group Inc. and State Bank and Trust Co. Mr. Martin is executive vice president and chief financial officer of Spangler Candy Company in Bryan, Ohio.

■ Steve Johnson of Perrysburg Township has been named executive vice president at GEM Inc. in Walbridge. He will oversee all construction operations, safety, and sales. He was most recently GEM’s senior vice president for construction.

■ Lutheran Homes Society, a social ministry organization based in Toledo, recently announced three promotions. Steve Dumke was named senior vice president for youth, housing & community services. Angela Powell will be vice president for long-term care services. Lorinda Schalk was named vice president for finance & accounting/​chief financial officer.
